This coming Sunday, we begin a new series on the power of faith to make a difference in our day to day lives. The series is "Faith That Works" and is based on insights from the Book of James. I see a lot of folks today whose faith doesn't seem to have much influence in their lives. Many of them have concluded that faith in God, faith in Christ is basically a waste of time and have therefore opted for a life without it. It's not just people outside the church that feel this way. Many active, church-goers hold on to their religious beliefs because its "the thing to do" but their faith is powerless, void of any practical application in their everyday life.
I want to use the lessons found in the Book of James to help us understand that faith is a powerful tool that can offer real life help to those who learn to apply it.
You probably know someone who has given up on faith or who doubts faith is worth pursuing. This would the ideal time to invite them to worship with you! This series will point out to us the practical difference faith can in building a life that matters.
Here are the areas we will explore:
Oct. 28: "You Can Do This!" (how faith gets us through life's trials)
Nov. 4: "Don't Go There!" (how faith helps us resist temptation.)
Nov. 18: "Be Who You Say You Are!" (turning beliefs into behavior)
Nov. 25: "Everybody Matters!" (avoiding favoritism)
Dec. 2: "Watch Your Mouth!" (learning to tame the tongue)
Dec. 9: "Have You Prayed About It?" (how faith encourages prayer.)
These are some of the ways faith works to make life flow better. I look forward to sharing these messages from God's Word with you each week.
