"MY GIVING"

If you were to complete a sentence beginning with "My giving..." how would the sentence flow?  The very word "giving" evokes all kinds of reactions from people, especially when it is mentioned in church.

Some of us might complete the sentence in ways that aren't real positive.  We might say...
"My giving...is none of your business!  My giving...is actually pretty embarrassing.  My giving...is not really that important to me.  My giving...is not what I know it should be."

For the next two Sundays, I want to share with you how to get to a more positive view of giving.  I believe giving is supposed to be a source of joy in the life of the Christian.  Wouldn't it be great if you could complete the sentence in this way...

"My giving...is a way of expressing my love for God!  My giving...helps me develop greater trust in God!  My giving... pleases God and brings me great joy!  My giving...helps me live for something beyond myself!"

As you can see, giving is designed to do something profound in the life of the giver.  It is a spiritual practice that enhances our relationship with God.  When we understand the proper way to give and the proper reasons to give...we discover a whole new attitude towards the practice.
I hope you will join me the next two Sundays as we reflect on the impact giving can have in our lives!
